The Carnival in Málaga is an amazing event full of joy and show that you will never forget! The Carnival is unique in Málaga because of its multicultural, colorful and spontaneous character when celebrations are held in both Historic Quarter and other districts of the city. The show starts with a huge desfile of singers, bands of street musicians, parades, quartets and choirs in the Teatro Cervantes. The Carnival lasts 9 days, every day is accompanied by street celebrations. Gastronomy also plays an important part during the preliminaries. Cabbages, casseroles, rice dishes, stews and much more; each district organizes its popular taste sessions with Carnival songs as an essential part of the fun. On February 3 you will hear the opening speech, the act will be held at Plaza de la Constitución. Next, the God Momo and the Goddess of Carnival will be chosen. Before that, at 5.30 pm, the Carnival Gala will be held at the Cervantes Theater. On February 4 the Carnival parade will start along the streets of the Center! In addition, there will be the Infantile Proclamation of Carnival, along with the Children´s Costumes contest and God and Prince´s selection. Everything will take place at Plaza de la Constitución. On February 5 to 8, you can enjoy the Carnival street shows. On February 9 there will be the kids´ parade starting at 12pm and Drag Queen´s election at 9:00 pm at the Plaza de la Constitución. On February 10, the reissue of the final of the contest will be open to the public. You can also have fun at the battle of flowers, Children´s Carnival and Parade of Gods (from 6 pm by the Center of Málaga). On February 11, at 1pm, you can taste fried anchovies for free at the Plaza de la Constitución and watch the traditional "burial of the anchovy" on the beach of La Malagueta.
